We have installed Hunter Douglas motorized shades in thousands of homes across the US over the years, and our clients love them. However, once in awhile remote controls get lost and need to be replaced or the batteries suddenly die and new ones are needed. Great news! We now have an app for that! Yes, you guessed it, the Platinum App from Hunter Douglas lets you control your shades using your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch, and because I always have my iPhone within reach (and mostly charged), I was finally convinced that I too, needed automated shades in my Portland, Oregon home.
The feature I use the most is “Scene Control”. I’ve created a few different scenes including “Good Night”, “Good Morning” and “Weekday Breakfast” that I use daily, but the “Sunday Morning Football” scene has a cool factor that makes it a family favorite, and it tends to be shown off to guests a lot. There’s a good reason for the ‘cool factor’: You simply touch “Sunday Morning Football” scene on our iPad and it tilts all four of our living room Silhouette® Window Shadings open just enough to let the morning sunlight filter through, but not so much that it creates glare on the television.
