Do you feel that it is time to lighten up after several years of darker wood and paint colors? I am ready, and I predict that 2013 will be the year of calm lighter toned finishes from wall coverings to flooring. Lighter toned wood, walls and floors make the perfect background for bursts of color or to create a serene color scheme in furniture, fabrics and accessories.
Ellen Degeneres and Portia de Rossi’s master bedroom in the picture above from House Beautiful is a great example of crisp & clean yet earthy home. They partnered with many interior designers to transform their master suite. I love how they eloquently synchronized natural tones in the linens, drapery, and flannel wallpaper. So serene, so relaxing.
