It shouldn’t be a secret by now that my clients and I love Silhouette window shadings. With such versatile fabric textures, colors, and opacities – and the ability to fit all kinds of window shapes – Silhouette window shadings remain on my top five list! My client was looking for a subtle, yet stylish updating for her triple-window den and kitchen areas that would allow for ample sunlight during the day, and privacy in the evening. Silhouette window shades were the perfect fit.
The Chateau fabric my client chose is a richly textured beige-brown with varying stripes of darker brown woven throughout. They really remind me of a mid-toned wood grain with the variance in coloration, and the windows now add such a beautiful balance to their grey-mocha walls. The Silhouette shades reflect the main color of the breakfast bar countertops, and add some pop to the artwork in the kitchen, and the darker furniture in the den.
These shades come with a variety of operating system options to fit all styles of homes, including automation and cordless. My client chose the EasyRise continuous cord-loop system, and it’s ideal for both the den and kitchen locations with its compact, slightly hidden and yet widely functional nature. There are no cords to trip on when navigating the den, and nothing to get in the way of the wide, sunlit windows that brighten the kitchen.
Speaking of brightness, my client loved that the vanes of the Silhouette window shadings can easily be adjusted to manage sunlight and privacy, all from the same closed-loop feature. The dual sheers that encase the vanes nicely diffuse natural light throughout the room, which they loved.
The kitchen and den have been transformed into bright-but-not-harsh spaces that glow without the damaging effects of UV rays. My client chose the semi-sheer Chateau fabric, which allotted a touch more sunlight in while maintaining a neat and comprehensive appearance from the exterior, as well as privacy for the interior of the home. For clients seeking more privacy or darkness, I would certainly recommend pairing these semi-sheer Silhouette window shadings with the newly released A Deux feature, which combines the style of the Silhouette shades, with a built-in room-darkening roller shade! However, for this client, the balance of sunlight and style of their Cappuccino-colored Silhouette shades was exactly what they were looking for.
