We as designers are lucky that home décor accents come in every shade of the rainbow, every pattern and print, and all kinds of interesting shapes and textures. But we understand that for most, deciding what colors and textures to use – and how – can be a daunting task!
When it comes to decorating a new home, finding the right colors for accents can be tough. Once you have the color or scheme in mind, finding the right ways to use the colors in your décor can be even more tricky. Luckily, we have a quick, often overlooked resolution!
One way to add some color flavor to a new space, a remodel, or even an underwhelming room of your home is to use your window treatments as an accent. That’s what we did with these roman shades – not only did the color really add pop to this room, they served as a creative alternative to typical drapery. They added a lot of personality and style to this client’s home.
The deep rouge red fabric shades are equally as stunning as they are functional. My client had a range of color that she wanted to showcase in her home, and we chose her canted bay windows as the new focal point. The hue coordinates with the rich browns, beiges, and creams in the room and adds just enough boldness to capture interest, but not overpower the rest of the décor.
My customer was pleased with the view out the windows, and wasn’t concerned about the room’s privacy, so the shades are tied to be a stationary treatment. By adding both the scarlet statement color and light control to the space without compromising style, another happy homeowner was born.
