Ideas to Treat Yourself – and Your Home – for Valentine’s Day

This Valentine’s Day, it’s time to treat yourself.  Break out the fine china and create an in-home spa sanctuary.  Change your chargers to red, add some extra candles to your mantle, embrace more of what you love, and let go of what you don’t!

Most of us have fond memories of elementary school exchanges of heart-shaped cookies on white doilies, precious homemade cards, and those fortune-telling conversation heart candies.  Valentine’s Day is about accepting and showing affection in a variety of creative ways.  It’s about declaring your love for whomever, or whatever, you desire.

This year it’s time to commit to kissing your drab décor goodbye and start living like a queen.  Show some adoration for yourself by spicing up your spaces!

Whether your humble abode is dressed in rustic designs or the most modern of furnishings, a mid-winter revamping around this loving holiday can do wonders for your spirit.

If your strongest sense is touch, pull out the plush fabrics, the velvets and silks, and wrap yourself up in luxury.  You may not need a room as bold as this one, but the mixing of multiple tactile accessories – especially in our favorite Valentine-worthy colors of Samba and Vivacious – can warm up a room instantly.

If your sense of smell seduces you, consider this simple DIY from the Evolution of Style Blog to sweeten the presentation of fresh flowers.  Aromatic and beautiful, try it with tulips and M&M candies, or spice things up with red-hots and richly colored roses.

For the more visual valentines, dressing up your mantles or adding small, simple improvements to each room shows you care about your surroundings.  The care you put in to your room design returns the favor by captivating you each and every day!  Talk about a loving environment.

Even if red is your least favorite color, thinking of Valentine’s Day as a pre-Spring cleaning will get your blood pumping, and your passion flowing in the right direction.  Your home should reflect your spirit and nurture you no matter what time of year it is!
