Let the Sunshine In – Florida Window Makeover

by Scott

When it comes to window treatments in the Sunshine State, my clients’ main areas of concern often pertain to, of course, the sun!  My clients, who hail from the chilly Great Lakes State of Michigan, had recently purchased a gorgeous winter home in Florida.  The home, nestled in a golf and country club community in Naples, had incredible windows but were lacking window treatments.

Being so close to the golf course, privacy was at the top of the list of necessary functionality. The clients chose the home because of its proximity to the beautifully manicured grasses, but with seasoned golfers playing right next to her “backyard,” the window treatments we looked at had to have superior privacy features.

The second concern, as mentioned above, was the need for protection from ultraviolet rays.  Again, having carefully selected a home on grounds that they wanted to look at, the treatments needed sun-blocking components, without eliminating the view, nor the brightness within the home.  After all, when you’re buying a winter home in Naples, most people want the sun in their living rooms!

In order to satisfy all my client’s needs, and do so in a style that would match the already stunning furnishings throughout their interiors, we opted for the Hunter Douglas Silhouette® window shadings.  The tilting louvers adjust with ease, allowing the sunshine to come through at just the right intensity for the two’s preferences, even when their preference is to completely shut them for evening privacy.

Plus, when they want to take advantage of their picturesque views of the golf course, the soft shades roll completely up into the mating fabric covered headrail.  Silhouette window shadings really are a beautiful choice, and they blend into the furnishings until they are nearly invisible to their backdrop.

I think it was the stationary design and attractiveness that most appealed to these Michigan clients.  They loved how the soft fabric S-Vane™ components, which rest between the two opaque sheers, filter out harmful ultraviolet light while still drawing the sunshine into their home.  When it comes to adjusting, a quick tug on the EasyRise continuous loop changes the lighting, and the mood, for any occasion!  Unfortunately, there aren’t any features for blocking flying golf balls.
