During my meeting with this particular client, she explained how she was looking for a change that would liven up her kitchen space, without being too flashy. She wanted a little sprucing without stealing too much attention away from the kitchen, the island, and the lovely dining area that her windows looked over.
To start, we took a look at one of her two small kitchen windows which had previously been dressed with standard blinds, and decided that it needed something beautiful but functional.
I find a lot of clients start off with generic, run-of-the-mill store-bought blinds. It is a quick fix for window treatments, but it doesn’t quite add the cohesive, homey feel that your interiors and exteriors should showcase. The windows are often, sadly, the last piece of the puzzle, but when they are dressed properly with your personal touch, they can transform your space.
For the kitchen window, we decided to install Vignette® Tiered Shades in a stunning fabric called Savannah. The fabric mimics the look of woven thatch in a durable, easy to clean, and opaquely-balanced polyester material. The mid-level opacity and the design of the folding fabric were created to aid with window insulation as well, making it a top choice for both privacy and energy efficiency. It gave the kitchen an organic, earthy feel that coordinated with her backsplash and countertop!
She loved the look of the Hunter Douglas Vignette® Window Shadings in the small window so much, that I returned to install two more on her gorgeous French doors, and one on her second small kitchen window! The final touch was to include the UltraGlide® feature on the French doors to keep dangling, tangling cords at bay. The constant cord length insured that nothing would distract from the look or function of the entryway. Plus, no need to worry about the cat getting in to the cords!
I was happy to install the Vignette window shades in my client’s space because they are stylish and naturally beautiful. They are functional and energy efficient. They tie together the kitchen and dining space with ease, and when it comes down to it, Mother Nature would certainly nod her head in approval!
