Helping homeowners choose the best window treatments for their lifestyle brings us immense joy every day. And on the occasion that we get to help one of our favorite TV stars find the perfect shades for their new home – well that’s just icing on the cake! Read on for all the juicy details of our most recent star-studded project.
Project Background
When Barrett Foa bought his Los Angeles home a few years ago, he hired famed LA interior designer Rosa Beltran (known for her California cool design aesthetic) to redesign the space. New window treatments were a must, so Rosa asked Decorview if we wanted to partner on the project. We, of course, responded with a big – HECK YEAH!
Because this project was based in LA, we asked Decorview window covering expert, Christa van-de-Wall, to help Rosa and Barrett navigate the selection process. Christa is a big Barrett Foa fan, so she jumped at the chance to be a part of this fun project.
Side note: you may remember Christa from another one of our star-studded design partnerships – HGTV’s Orlando Soria.
The Design Process & Reveal
Barrett’s home is cool, sleek and contemporary, so Christa recommended window treatment styles with clean lines to complement the home’s unique architectural aesthetic. After reviewing the pros and cons of a few different Hunter Douglas styles, Rosa and Barrett selected Designer Screen Shades for the windows. This window treatment style has become the go-to-choice for modern homes and does a fantastic job blocking incoming heat and harmful UV rays, while at the same time keeping your space light and bright. The perfect window treatments for hot sunny climates like LA.
Next choice in the selection process was color and fabric. Rosa’s design scheme for Barrett’s home was moody, California cool and she wanted the window treatments to seamlessly blend into the background so the rest of the décor and furnishing would pop. To accomplish this, Christa helped Rosa choose fabrics similar in shade to the neutral wall colors throughout the home.
The last decision was the lift system. Just like his on-screen character, Barrett chose the most advanced and techy lift system on the market – PowerView® Motorization. With PowerView, Barrett can operate shades using a remote, app or even his voice. The PowerView system also allows users to schedule and automate their window treatments for a complete smart-home experience.
Another not-to-be overlooked bonus of a motorized lift system is no external operating cords to clutter up the shade’s appearance and detract from the overall beauty of the window treatment.
Once all the details were finalized out, Christa measured the windows. All Hunter Douglas window treatments are custom fabricated to the client’s exact window specifications, resulting in at fit you can’t get with off-the-shelf alternatives. Installation was completed by a licensed installer.
